Harry Young announced his retirement from the position of Chair of the Energy Committee.  The Committee elected Dick Ames as its new Chair.

Committee membership participation in meetings during the CommitteeÕs first year was reviewed.   It was agreed that outreach to absent members and others who might be interested in joining the Committee should be undertaken by the Chair.

The Committee noted the need for Committee By-Laws, for posting notices of Committee meetings, for keeping minutes of Committee meetings, and for setting priorities for the CommitteeÕs work during this next year.  The Chair will follow-up.

The activities of the Streetlight Committee, which has been established as an ad-hoc sub-committee of the Energy Committee, were reviewed.  Harry Young announced that Streetlight Committee members, including Police Chief Bill Oswalt and Fire Chief David Chamberlain, would go out in the late evening of June 4 to survey many of the 61 lights that have been preliminarily identified as candidates for removal.

Doug Clayton reported on plans for Energy Committee participation at the Global Warming Conference which will take place at the Cathedral of the Pines on June 8.  The Committee will have a table.  We will distribute compact fluorescent light bulbs provided by PSNH.  We will also distribute informational handouts that Dick Ames will prepare.

The next meeting was set for June 19 at 7 PM at the Town Library.
